WHO WE ARE AND HOW TO CONTACT US
Allaboutpregnancy.co.uk is a site operated by The Aster Baby Scan Clinic Limited (”We”). We are registered in England and Wales under company number 11263326. We are Registered in England and Wales for VAT: 301522168.

Who we are and what we do: We consist of doctors.

We will provide pregnancy scans and a pregnancy screening by the Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing and Group B Strep test. We will provide general education advice for pregnancy and healthy pregnancy lifestyle and nutrition and access to a midwifery advice service.

It is imperative that these scans should not replace your NHS screening scans (In particular, the first trimester scan and 20 week anomaly scan or any growth scans your doctor plans for you). Our scans provide a wraparound service. You must have your NHS anomaly scan to check the fetal anatomy. Ultrasound diagnostic limitations do apply to all our scans. Sometimes views are limited by BMI, fetal position and gestational age. Quality of ultrasound image and ability to see and detect fetal or maternal problems will vary a lot depending on clients BMI, tissue make up, position of the unborn baby during scan and presence of multiple babies or masses such as fibroids. Visibility becomes particularly poor with increased Body mass index. It is not possible to detect all fetal abnormalities by ultrasound. Some abnormalities manifest in later in pregnancy and are are not screened for. Fingers and toes are not routinely counted. Ultrasound cannot exclude all chromosomal abnormalities and rare genetic syndromes. Some abnormalities are very subtle and only present after birth. Please see the link to the standard detection rates https://www.gov.uk/topic/population-screening-programmes/fetal-anomaly. Estimated fetal weight is an estimate and subject to fetal position and gestational age and there may be variance of the fetal weight.

The purpose of some of our scans are more of reassurance and bonding and not all abnormalities are screened for or detectable using ultrasound scan. Some of our scans are not long enough for assessment of anatomy and anatomy check is not the main purpose of the scans. You must have your NHS anomaly scan to check the fetal anatomy. However, if we do notice a concern, we will refer you to your doctor (GP or Obstetrician) or your midwife. In particular, 4D scans are not diagnostic and for entertainment alone. The 4D scan service DOESN’T include a detailed medical diagnostic and screening service for the pregnancy.

Therefore, by having a scan with us, you confirm that you will have or are having antenatal care and have a medical team looking after your pregnancy. You confirm that you will have your first trimester scan and detailed anatomy scan with the NHS screening service. You should also understand that the scans you have with us are not suitable to be considered as the only assessment of your fetus or fetal growth or wellbeing.

The Non-Invasive Prenatal Tests are screening tests and while they have a high detection rate they are not a diagnostic test and you should discuss this with your doctor or midwife whilst deciding to have the test. You should also discuss the results with your doctor or midwife that is looking after your pregnancy.

If we note a concern, we will inform your local maternity unit with your consent and also ask you to inform your doctor or midwife of the result of the scan.

We will also ask you to show your reports to your doctor or midwife for all scans.

You should ask your midwife or doctor to review your growth reports to ensure that the growth is appropriate for your baby as some hospital units use growth charts now to plot ultrasound measurements.

Antenatal Classes
The antenatal classes do not offer or provide medical advice to your, your baby or care of your baby. They do not replace the care and advice provided by your healthcare providers, your obstetricians, General Practitioners and midwives. You should consult your doctor midwife for any concerns about your health. All about prengnacy will provide general education about pregnancy, childbirth and new baby care.
